GUS

GREAT PYRENEES/MAREMMA, MALE

Gus is awesome. As a breeder, I'm not suppose to have favorites, but Gus (and Chopper) sure challenge that. Gus was brought on to introduce new genetics to our breeding program, and he did not disappoint. He's one you would want a copy of. He actively works in a pack as a guardian, and congrats to him on becoming a Dad before he turned one. Good job Gus.

We Do ...

Put the life and happiness of our Mama dogs 1st. We often skip heats, and make sure our Moms get a good break between litters.

Free-Feed our Mamas Premium Puppy Chow (Iams, Nature Natro Choice, Pure Balance, Blue Buffalo). Also, all of our dogs get raw meat and meat treats like chicken tenders 3-6 times per week. Yes, we will hand our dogs a full raw chicken or full rack of ribs on a regular basis.

Take the puppies to the vet, and have them dewormed. You get the health certificate from the vet.

Socialize the puppies inside the house, with our children and other cats, dogs, and some farm animals.

Introduce the puppies to basic training. For example, we reward the ones who sit for a greeting by petting and picking them up 1st. It's not long before everyone notices to sit and be polite for greetings. Your puppy will also start the potty training process which you can finish and customize to your home and schedule.

Offer support long after puppies go home. If you have a medical or behavioural question, reach out. We have dog trainers who live here, and are more than happy to help if we have some experience we can share with year, yes, even years later.

Make it our goal to be a responsible and loving breeder that blesses our dogs, and our customers. Many of our customers have become our Friends. We wanted to be a solution for people who don't want contracts, invasive personal questions that can be the unpleasant part of adopting a pet, but also don't want a puppy mill. We LOVE our pets. We sleep with them in our beds, we walk them on our Mountain, we feed them better than ourselves at times, and we want to share a piece of that with you, and hope you love them just as much too.

We Don't ...

Overbreed or try for the max # of litters. Money is not the driving factor behind our decisions.

Limit food or water. We believe dogs can choose when they eat and drink.

Force tattoos or microchips. We leave that decision to you after you adopt.

Vaccinate the puppies. Since Covid there are a mix of opinions on vaccines. We let you choose this. We have put in place safe disease control practices on our Ranch to keep who is here safe.

Have you fill out giant questionnaires, or be overly nosy. We have rejected people in the past (heavy drug presence, etc), but regular people who want to love a pet are welcome to adopt from us without unreasonable prying.

Overcrowd. We have 2 permanent + 1 temporary indoor areas to birth. Each has a whelping pen with guard bars, and room for the Mamas to leave and have their own space. Each area is climate controlled, and we are equip for both summer and winter litters.

Register the litters with CKC, or like Organizations. We are not necessarily against this, and do own many CKC pets ourselves. We chose to pass the cost savings along to our customers, and not have them go through often overbearing contracts and legal obligations.

Charge the absolute most we can. We try not to be selfish. We price mid-range, so we help keep the pricing in the market reasonable. Pets are important; they defend you. They help with bad days. They make good days great. We cover our costs and aim for a modest profit, but choosing the highest possible price that things can be sold for is already hurting everyone in every other area, so we want to be part of the solution, not the problem.
